Are you interested in working toward a strong and healthy smile this year? If so, our Mark S. Jensen DDS & Associates dental team has some helpful tips for you. For the top-notch oral health you deserve, we encourage you to do the following things on a regular basis:

Brush properly each day

Many people brush their teeth each day, but they don’t brush properly. To help you brush properly, work on brushing for two minutes twice a day. We also recommend brushing with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Do your best to thoroughly scrub each tooth, and make sure you are soft as you brush along the gumline.

Floss daily

Make sure you floss at least once a day. Flossing is just as important as brushing, so it’s important that you do not forget this task. Flossing will help you prevent tooth decay and gum disease by removing the plaque and food particles from the crevices of your smile. Please feel free to use whichever flossing product you prefer to clean your teeth.

Chew sugarless gum frequently

Sugarless gum is a great product to chew throughout the day, especially after each meal. If you chew this gum, saliva will be produced in your mouth, and the more saliva that is produced, the more your smile will be protected from tooth decay and the more your teeth will be washed.

Have a healthy diet

Healthy diets help your smile as well as your entire body. If you eat healthy foods, your teeth can get stronger and healthier each day. Some teeth-healthy foods include fresh fruits and veggies. It’s also important to avoid eating non-healthy foods, like sugary treats and candy.

Visit your dentist regularly

It is vital that you visit your dentist every six months if you want to maintain a healthy smile as well as prevent dental issues. So, make sure you keep up with your dental visits this year; doing so will help you protect your teeth and gums from gum disease.
